There are four ways to take part in this research
1. The Survey
This survey is completely confidential. It has been designed to collect general information on trends relating to prepping in the UK.
The survey includes questions about your motivations for prepping; how you organise your preps; the significance of community and skill development; the impact of health and well-being; and demographic questions. You can choose to skip any questions. The survey is completely anonymous and should take 15-20 minutes, depending on the length of your answers.
If you are happy to take part, follow the link marked 'survey' below. The opening page contains further details including anonymity and confidentiality, your right to withdraw, and incorporates a consent statement.
What happens next?
Once you have submitted the survey, you will receive a confirmation notice. Under this notice, there is a question asking if you would like to be interviewed. This is of course completely optional.
If you would like to be interviewed, please email separately at firstname.lastname@example.org .
I am not linking the questionnaire and process of submitting an expression of interest via email as I want all questionnaire respondents to feel fully assured that their responses are anonymous, unidentifiable and untraceable.
2. The interview
The interview is an opportunity for us to learn about your personal experiences of prepping, your interests, what you do, the skills you have built and why, how you first came to prepping, and things you value. It is an opportunity for you to talk frankly about prepping, your interests and any other related thoughts you may have. The conversation will be non-judgemental and informal. Your responses will be kept strictly anonymous and will be used to inform the research only.
If you are interested in being interviewed, follow the link at the end of the survey. You will be asked to fill out your contact details. I will be in touch shortly to arrange the interview. We will discuss your preferences for how the interview should take place (e.g. online or in person).
I want to be interviewed, but I don't want to fill out the survey.
If you are keen to be interviewed but not to fill out the survey, you can contact me directly through the contact page. Alternatively, click on the link below, which will take you directly to the contact page. Fill in your name and email address and write interview in the subject heading. I will be in touch shortly.
3. Comment on one of the blog posts
There are a selection of blog posts on the home page. If there is anything that you would like to engage with, please feel free to respond. If you comment on a post, you will be opting into the research. This means that your response may be included in the research. No other data will be collected, and we will not publish any identifying details.
4. Invite me to come to one of your training events or meetups!
I would be delighted to come if invited to. Please use the contact page to get in touch, with any ideas you have of things you feel may be useful to this research.
